CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR Dr DeLisle Worrell is in the Number 9 Supreme Court in an unprecedented battle for his job.

The 72-year-old arrived at the White Park Road, Bridgetown court at 12:45 p.m. to appear before Justice Randall Worrell as he seeks to maintain an injunction stopping Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler from firing him.

Dr Worrell, who is represented by attorney Gregory Nicholls is maintaining that Sinckler does not have the power to remove him.

The matter is being heard in-chambers.

Sinckler did not appear in the court, but is being represented by Solicitor General Jennifer Edwards.

He gave Worrell until the end of business last Monday to tender his resignation, but on Sunday night, Worrell’s legal team were granted a temporary injunction by Justice Worrell.

The Governor was appointed in 2009 and his contract extended in 2014. (GE)
