NEITHER RAMON GITTENS nor Mario Burke made it to the semi-finals of the men’s 100 metres at the IAAF World Championships in London.

Gittens had the better chance as one of four runners with 10.24 seconds, but missed the cut on split seconds.

Burke clocked 10.42 seconds at the London Stadium and was out of the running.

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt still remains the man to beat, despite winning his heat with an easy 10.07 seconds.

Compatriot Julian Forte leads the field of qualifiers with a personal best 9.99 seconds, and former champion Yohan Blake also advanced with 10.13 seconds.

Cejhae Greene will fly the flag of Antigua and Barbuda in the next round after finishing third in his heat with 10.21 seconds, but compatriot Chavaughn Walsh was a non-starter after advancing from the preliminaries.

Also missing the cut were Jamaica’s Senoj-Jay Givans (10.30); Trinidadians Emmanuel Callender (10.25) and Keston Bledman (10.26) and Bahamian Warren Fraser who also clocked 10.42 seconds.

The semi-finals will run off from 2:05 p.m. Saturday and the final is slated for 4:45. (SAT)
