Future members of this country’s workforce are receiving first-hand experience in business through a summer internship programme at Sagicor Life Inc.
The leading insurance company launched its Green Leaders Internship Programme on June 22 with a Mix and Mingle event for the 16 bright, young interns who were selected to be part of the pilot programme.
At this event, the interns had the opportunity to get acquainted with each other and interact with senior managers within the company.
Sagicor’s interns, who range in age from 16 to 23, are from diverse educational backgrounds and stages, and have been placed within the company’s actuarial, customer service, finance, group insurance, human resources, information technology, and marketing departments.
They will undergo practical on-the-job training and life-skills training and they will also spearhead a community outreach initiative.
“As an industry leader, we realise that we can offer interns a wealth of knowledge and expose them to business best practices, honed from over 175 years in the insurance industry,” said Siobhan Robinson-Morris, Manager – Human Resources.
“The importance of our internship programme is two-fold: we embrace young, exuberant students who are eager to learn but can also share innovative insights, while our interns acquire practical working experience, which equips them with the tools and skills which are required in the job market.”
The Green Leaders Internship Programme will run for ten weeks. (PR/SAT)
