St Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School are champions of the Barbados Cricket Association’s Schools’ Division after gaining first innings points over Milo Lodge in a drawn final that concluded at Briar Hall on Saturday.

Lodge, who began their first innings reply to the 156 made by St Leonard’s, were dismissed for 106 in 39.5 overs half-hour after the tea interval. Batting a second time, St Leonard’s reached 45 without loss before the teams agreed to call play at 4:10 p.m.

Spinners Jai Clarke and Tremaine Dowrich were the pick of the St Leonard’s bowlers, taking three for 16 and three for 28, respectively, following a fiery opening spell by Barbados Under-15 pacer Rashad Worrell, who took two for 28.

St Leonard’s coach Collis King saw his enforced stay in Barbados – the result of a passport issue – as an opportunity to work with the team and plot the capture of the championship, as they have been runners-up for some time now. (AH)
