‘England, go for Jofra’

MELBOURNE, Australia – Hobart Hurricanes head coach Adam Griffith has labelled Barbadian fast bowling sensation, Jofra Archer, as a match-winner and believes England would be “silly” not to pick him for the ICC World Cup at home next May.

The 23-year-old Archer has emerged as one of the most exciting young players over the last two years, due largely to his exploits for English county Sussex, Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

He qualifies to represent England through his father and recently had his chances of eligibility fast-tracked when the England and Wales Cricket Board relaxed their eligibility criteria last month.

“He’s got the talent [to play Test cricket], no doubt. We’ve seen what he can do in white ball (cricket). I think he’ll definitely play a role for them in the World Cup – they’d be silly if he didn’t,” said Griffith. (CMC)
