The latest murder has hit a little too close to home for the residents in Belair, St Philip.

And it has left them scared and shaken.

Friday night, 24-year-old Ashantio Blackman was gunned down outside his home just after 7 p.m. in the quiet and close-knit community. His death brings the island’s murder tally to 26 for the year.

Family members were too distraught to speak to the media yesterday.

A young man who identified himself as Amir, Blackman’s brother, tried, but eventually said he was “not thinking straight right now” and was not in a position to speak. (DB)
