Barbados’ tourism numbers from the United Kingdom are up, despite the uncertainties of Brexit and the recent levies imposed on the sector as part of the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) plan.

Chief executive officer of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) William “Billie” Griffith, said yesterday the island had already reported 324 551 arrivals for 2019, representing a four per cent increase over the same period last year and was “on track for another record year”. whatsapp-alerts-bloc

He further noted that arrivals from the UK had grown by 9.6 per cent over 2018.

Of the 681 197 visitors to Barbados last year, 225 519 were from the UK, which is Barbados’ main tourism source market. (GC)
