Plans to improve open water  swimmers

Plans are on the cards to improve the performances of young open water swimmers, says Barbados team manager Matthew Lashley.

This was his view following the open water competition of the Central American & Caribbean Confederation Championships which concluded last week.

“They are doing well, but what we are trying to do is get some of the young ones into an organised programme where we can get some more time in which they can get some more consistent experiences.

“They are some strong swimmers but the conditions and techniques of open water swimming are slightly different from pool swimming and we are just hoping to get them to come up from there,” he told Weekend Sport. (RG)
