Bay changes to bring road shifts

Barbadians could see some road diversion to accommodate planned development of the Carlisle Bay area in St Michael.

However, Minister of Tourism Kerrie Symmonds said there should not be much dislocation.

“I can’t say that the road will not be diverted. But even if the road was diverted, it would not mean that Barbados does not have access to the new road. All that would happen is that there would be a diversion that would accommodate the development of property,” the minister said in a recent interview.

He stressed that in its quest to attract foreign investment Government had no intention of depriving Barbadians of things they hold sacred. He also said there was no fear of losing access to the Bay Street Esplanade, which he said would be enhanced. (GC)
