CTUSAB knocks ‘sin of omission’

The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) isn’t happy that two commissions promised by the Mia Mottley administration have yet be set up.

In a press statement yesterday, CTUSAB general secretary Dennis De Peiza suggested that the Teaching Service Commission and the Protective Services Commission should be prioritised by Government.

“Following on the announcement by the Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, in January 2019 that the Government of Barbados will be moving to establish both a Teaching Services Commission and Protective Services Commission, the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB) laments the protracted delay there has been in bringing these commissions into law,” De Peiza said in the statement.

“CTUSAB is of the opinion that giving effect to these two commissions must be seen as a priority as part of the Government’s move to reform the Public Service of Barbados.

“The Congress contends that it has seen no evidence to date which indicates any action being contemplated or taken to move the promise made by successive governments to bring the commissions into reality.”  (BA)
