The high surf advisory and small craft warning issued by the Barbados Meteorological Services earlier today, remain in effect for Barbados, as the Met Office continues to monitor the approaching tropical wave.

As of 5 p.m. the system was located near 58°W, south of 15°N, and an investigation by a hurricane hunter showed that there was no well-defined circulation.

Despite this, some gradual development remains likely later this weekend or early next week as the system moves quickly westward, crossing Barbados and the Windward islands later tonight and into tomorrow.

Brisk surface winds of 25 to 30kt (45 to 55km/h) with higher gusts and pockets of moderate to heavy showers are likely, with possible rainfall accumulations of 75 to 100mm (three to four inches). (PR)
