The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) has reversed its temporary suspension of compensation payments to Barbados Water Authority (BWA) customers.

Yesterday, the FTC said the “BWA standards of service remain in effect”.

The announcement came more than two months after the utility regulator revealed such compensation was “in abeyance in light of BWA’s financial and operational challenges”.

“Customers of the Barbados Water Authority are reminded that the Fair Trading Commission’s Standards of Service Decision issued on May 31, 2017, and implemented January 1, 2018, is still in effect. The decision provides for certain mandatory overall and guaranteed standards which the BWA must comply with,” the FTC said in a published notice. (SC)
