Upset workers of G4S Secure Solutions Barbados have vowed to return to the picket line today to demand an increase in pay.

President of the G4S division of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), Ormond Mayers, told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday the wage proposal management promised to produce by last Friday, had not materialised.

Instead, he added, managing director James Devers, who is based in Trinidad and Tobago, brought back a proposal for a 40-hour week across the board.

Mayers said this was not practical.

“To date, Mr Devers has not produced the wage proposal the BWU said he must. What he did produce was a collective agreement and he wants everything from 2014 to 2019 squashed and start negotiations from 2021. He gave it on the basis the company is not making a profit, but we don’t buy this. . .”
