  • The current directive is bring revoked.
  • The new directive takes effect from midnight and will be effect for two weeks.
  • Church activity is limited to 25 people.
  • Smaller churches will have fewer people.
  • The paramount indicator is six feet per person.
  • The Prime Minister will meet with faith-based organisations next week.

Dr Ingrid Cumberbatch

  • The latest COVID-19 death is a 58-year-old woman who passed away this morning.
  • She was in isolation for eight days.
  • She had no comorbidities and was not vaccinated.
  • Barbados has now recorded 49 COVID-19 deaths.
  • This is the first death since July 8.
  • Recent cases
    • August 25: 21 cases (7 less than 18 years old)
    • August 26: 48 cases (8 less than 18 years old)
    • August 27: 92 cases (26 less than 18 years old)
  • More children are getting infected
  • If you are sick with the cold, sinus problems, flu-like symptoms, vomiting, do not stay home sick, do not go to work, do not take your child to day care.
  • Go to the doctor, get a COVID-19 test.
  • It is clear that the majority of infected people are unvaccinated.
  • 95 per cent of those testing positive on August 25 were unvaccinated.
  • 85 per cent of those testing positive on August 26 were unvaccinated.
  • We are seeing entire families and households being affected.
  • On August 25, there were three families.
  • On August 26, there were six families.
  • On August 27, there were 13 families.
  • My picture painting for the next week is based on projections from UWI who assisted us in looking at having a mixture of Alpha and Delta cases.
  • They gave a projection of a maximum of 500 cases a day.
  • We haven’t seen that yet, but it is a possibility.

Ronald Chapman

  • People are becoming infected in two categories – recreational and places of work.
  • We are finding that COVID isn’t spreading in the front offices of stores and supermarkets etc.
  • It is spreading in back offices, store rooms and where staff congregate.
  • We are having issues with churches and this has to do with close contact, confined spaces and crowds.
  • Once you have those three Cs come together, you increase your chances of getting COVID.
