Barbadian Paralympian Antwahn Boyce-Vaughan earned a well fought second place finish in the first heat of the men’s 50 metre freestyle at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics today.
The 20-year-old got to the finish line in a personal best time of 37.86 seconds behind eventual winner Rodrigo Hermosa of Paraguay who clocked 29.72 seconds. Vincentian Dexroy Creese rounded out the three-man race in 41.44.
Boyce-Vaughan commendable swim is testament to his determination over the last few years.
After losing his right leg to cancer in 2018, he then learned to swim only a year and a half ago under the guidance of coach Adele Price, who accompanied him to the Games. (NM)
