64 new COVID cases in Barbados

Sixty-four people, 30 males and 34 females, were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory as COVID-19 positive. The facility conducted 1 979 tests on Monday, August 30.

The new cases consist of 51 people who are 18 years old and over, and 13 under the age of 18.

There are 339 people in isolation.

Since the start of the pandemic in March last year, 5 032 confirmed cases of the virus comprising 2 473 females and 2 559 males, were recorded. Fifty people died from the virus.

The laboratory carried out 262 358 tests.

Public health officials administered 109 905 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, while 94 361 people, or 34.8 per cent of the population, received second doses and are, therefore, fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
