251 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 251 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases – 119 females and 132 males – on Thursday, November 18. The facility conducted 1 656 tests.

Of the new cases, 46 individuals are under the age of 18 and the other 205 are 18 years and older.

There were 840 people in isolation facilities, and 7 634 in home isolation.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 23 426 cases of the viral illness, comprising 11 212 males and 12 214 females.

COVID-19 has claimed 206 lives, as at November 18. The latest victim is a 96-year-old Barbadian woman who died at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility on Thursday. She was partially vaccinated.

The public health laboratory has conducted 421 886 tests.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the number of people who have received at least one dose is 152 374, or 66.7 per cent of the eligible population.

A total of 133 835 people (49.4 per cent of the total population, or 58.6 per cent of the eligible population) are fully vaccinated. The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
