People who “touch” the police will be made to pay for doing so.
So declared Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes as he ordered Renaldo Ricardo Jones to pay compensation to two lawmen yesterday.
“The court’s mind is on compensation, where if you touch the police, you pay for touching the police,” the Chief Magistrate said in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.
Jones, a 36-year-old roofer, of 3rd Avenue, Licorish Village B, St Michael, had been remanded to HMP Dodds last month after he had pleaded guilty to assaulting Inspector Anthony Cadogan; resisting Constable Johnathan Stuart and using insulting language to Constable Keimar Gibson, all on December 12, last year.
