Dems’ parade

Despite decreased numbers because of strict COVID-19 protocols, eager Democratic Labour Party (DLP) supporters turned out for the candidate showcase and concert last night at Haggatt Hall, St Michael.

It began just after 6 p.m. and featured performances by entertainers such as Neesha Woodz and Donella, who sang gospel selections, as well as bashment and soca artistes Mole, Mr Blood, and the reigning Soca Monarch Mikey, who put down some of their hits.

The staunch supporters, many of whom wore the party’s signature blue and yellow colours or watched from their vehicles, truly came alive during the candidate showcase when each DLP candidate took to the stage and introduced themselves, briefly speaking about their plans.

Many people were seen dancing with their masks on to the various campaign jingles as they waved posters of candidates such as party leader Verla De Peiza, candidate for St Philip North Michael Lashley, St Philip West’s Dr David Estwick, and candidate for St Michael South Central Richard Sealy.
