Ace Barbadian quarter-miler Sada Williams has made the grade to compete at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon after capturing the women’s 400 metres title at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) SDF Jubilee meet on Saturday in Kingston.

Williams, the Barbados national record holder who lives in Jamaica and is coached by the legendary Stephen Francis at the MVP track club, posted a time of 51.05 seconds for victory at the National Stadium.

Once ratified by the Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB), Williams’ time, which is under the required 51.35 seconds, will make her the second local athlete to book a ticket to the championships, slated for July 15 to July 24 in the United States.

Competing in a quality field of promising Jamaicans, Williams warmed up for her Diamond League campaign and a busy summer, which also includes the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, with a confident display. (A G-B)
