Five of the six men accused of shooting at police said it was lawmen who opened fire on them on the night of May 20, 2018.

The sixth, Renako Kadeane Brathwaite, said he was nowhere near Kew Road or Promenade Road that night.

Adigun Rabbi Hinds of Madison Terrace, Deacons, St Michael; Malik Derick Fenty, of 2nd Avenue, Redman Road, Deacons, St Michael; Raschad Justin Bowen, of Gilkes Road, Fairfield Cross Road, Tudor Bridge, St Michael; Richad Barry Boyce, of 2nd Avenue, Kellman Land, Black Rock, St Michael; Richard Shamario Worrell, of Derriston Road, Grazettes, St Michael and Renaka Kadeane Brathwaite of Fairfield Cross Road, Tudor Bridge, St Michael, gave their defences when their trial continued in the No. 3 Supreme Court yesterday.

They each opted to give an unsworn statement from the dock.

Hinds told the court Richard Worrell and he had gone to the bread shop in the Orleans before returning to Deacons. (HLE)
