BHTA appoints new board

The newly elected board of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

The Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association has a new board.

The positions were decided moments ago at the Annual General Meeting at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael.

Stephen Austin will continue to hold his post as chairman until his tenure ends. Chairman-elect and first vice-chairman is Geoffrey Roach, with Karen Capaldi as second vice-chairman.

Jo-Ann Roett was given the nod as Director of Finance and Kavita Sandiford of St James Travel and Tours as Director of Direct Tourism Services.

Additional directors include Andrew Mallilieu of Vacation Rental Properties Management Companies; Gayle Talma of Elegant Hotels will continue to represent the Luxury Class; Soni Kessaram will chair the Intimate Hotel Group; Shireen Mathlin-Tulloch will now represent the  A class while Mark Kent will lead the B class, Patricia Affonso-Dass of Ocean Hotels remains as president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association and Alfredo Giovini of Tapas Restaurant will continue on as chairperson of Direct Tourism Services.

Meanwhile, William “Billy” Griffith will continue to represent the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Dr Kerry Hall for Barbados Tourism Product Authority, and immediate past chairman Roseanne Myers will also remain on the board. Senator Rudy Grant remains as Chief Executive Officer. (RA)
