It was showers of blessings for Barbados Under-17 cricketers in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.
The Dexter Toppin-coached young Barbados team retained the Cricket West Indies (CWI) title when their final one-day match against Jamaica ended in a no-result after rain stopped play.
Just nine overs were bowled and Barbados, sent in to bat by second-placed Jamaica, had reached 29 for one when rain stopped play in the top-of-the-table clash at Gilbert Park.
Captain Nimar Bolden was the lone batsman dismissed, falling for just four. Fellow left-hander Hakeem Perryman was not out on 17 while all-rounder Jaden Leacock was on four.
Barbados finished on 17.9 points from three victories against the Windward Islands, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. (EZS)
