PSV workers afraid

After the murder of one of its own in what some believe was a robbery gone wrong, the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) and the Association of Public Transport Operators (APTO) are banding together to keep drivers and conductors safe.

“There is definitely an element of fear within the sector now. Drivers and conductors feel they are being targeted and under watch on a nightly basis,” communications and marketing officer of (AOPT), Mark Haynes, told the Weekend Nation yesterday.

Haynes’ comments came 48 hours after 54-year-old driver Ralston Agard was shot and killed moments after exiting his ZR near his Sandy Hill, St Philip home Tuesday night. It was the 34th killing of the year.(BA)
