GOVERNMENT’S decision to revise its position on the opening of supermarkets, five days after announcing their closure in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19, has been applauded by Opposition Leader Joseph Atherley.
Last Friday, Atherley took the Mia Mottley administration to task for the abrupt closure of supermarkets, which left Barbadians in a mad scramble to secure supplies for the duration of a two-week shutdown at ends April 14.
Yesterday, Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw revealed that supermarkets will be allowed to facilitate home deliveries, curbside pickups and the sale of pre-packaged baskets.
Responding to the news, Atherley told the MIDWEEK NATION that he was satisfied the new provisions would allow for all Barbadians to access food.
