The statue of Lord Nelson will be removed from Heroes Square, The City on November 16, United Nations International Day For Tolerance.

This was announced by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with Responsibility for Culture John King, a short while ago. He said it was indeed an ultimate statement of confidence in who we are as a people and what we are capable of achieving.

The 200-year-old structure will be transported to a temporary storage site at Block A, the Garrison, St Michael.

It is believed that it will ultimately be returned to public display on the compound of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society at the Garrison.

The removal will be done in a public ceremony at Heroes Square, where there will be cultural performances.

That event takes place at 4 p.m. (GC)
