September 21, 2020 will be the first day of school for students.
However, those entering Sixth Form will have to wait on the return of results for CSEC and CAPE from the Caribbean Examinations Council.
This was revealed in a circular signed by acting chief education officer Joy Adamson, a copy of which was obtained by Nation News.
The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational training also announced planning week for teachers would run from September 14 to 18 and encouraged principals to design and complete timetables as usual as adjustments can be made as necessary.
The Ministry said it would continue to engage all stakeholders – teacher unions, parents, the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations – “on the format for reopening of schools since there may still be a need for some form of physical distancing in September”.
All public health protocols will be adhered to, the circular added. (SAT)
