Fifty-three Immigration Officers received permanent appointments to the Public Service of Barbados.

Acting Director General of the Ministry of the Public Service, Penny Linton, said Governor General Dame Sandra Mason, acting on the advice of the Protective Services Commission, appointed 53 officers to the bracketed post of Immigration Officer II/III, with effect from September 1, 2020.

Linton noted that 31 Environmental Health Assistants I/II were recently appointed and during 2020, other appointments were made throughout the Public Service.

“As a Ministry, we are committed to our stakeholders, and recognise the motivation and sense of engagement created when officers receive security of tenure,” Linton said.

“In this regard, the Ministry of the Public Service is continuing work on appointments in other sectors, including category scale posts, chief technical positions and junior support roles, given their importance to the efficient functioning of the Public Service.”

Linton said the People Resourcing and Compliance Directorate commenced internal procedures for the filling of the above posts and would soon issue circulars for posts across the ‘C’ scale category. (BGIS)
