SUPERCENTRE SPARTAN gained their second consecutive victory of the 2010 season by inflicting an innings and 83 runs defeat on Banks in their second series Division One cricket match in two days.
The Banks batsmen were once again undone by the varied combination of the Spartan spinners after they faced a first innings deficit of 187.
Off-spinner Reydon Toppin (3-19) rocked the middle order with three wickets while fellow off-spinner Hugh Husbands and left-armer Andre Marshall took one each with two players Anderson Sealy and Shadd Simmons absent as Banks folded meekly for 104 in their second innings.
Banks’ second innings woes were started by veteran pacer Hattian Graham, who prised out the prized wickets of Barbados opener Martin Nurse for eight and former West Indies opener Sherwin Campbell for a duck in his first spell by the time the score reached 18.
When Graham returned for a short two-over spell, Jamal Phillips became his third victim as he rolled back the years with final figures of three for 29.
Opener Krisnan Hurdle (26) and captain Keegan Alleyne (33) provided the main resistance for Spartan before both became victims of Toppin. Hurdle was unfortunate to be caught by the keeper after driving a ball onto the boot of the short-leg fielder.
Earlier, the Parkites gained full batting points after declaring at 318 for six. Spartan resumed on 206 for three with Wayne Blackman on 99 and Rohan Nurse 14. Wayne Blackman duly completed his century but did not last much longer than his 53-run fourth wicket stand with Nurse.
