Sir Frank Leslie Walcott (1916 – 1999)

SIR FRANK DEDICATED plenty of time to trade unionism in Barbados.

His main objective was to see workers in Barbados from all walks of life treated with respect in the workplace, and so he bargained for better working conditions and salaries for the workers in Barbados.

He excelled at mathematics and was a great debater with a fearless outspoken style that caught the eyes of Hugh Springer who invited him to join the labour movement.

This was to be Walcott’s life for 50 years as he worked to improve all aspects of labour for workers in Barbados.

The following was produced by the Barbados Government Information Service.
