THEY CAME, they saw and they conquered but, most importantly, the “Dashing Eagles” of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) soared to victory against the Barbados Tridents on Sunday night at the National Stadium.

The 2015 unbeaten run of the Barbados men’s football team came to an end when they were defeated 1-0 in their first-leg 2018 preliminary round World Cup qualifier in front of the biggest crowd of the season.

Jamie Browne’s 16th-minute goal was enough to grant USVI a sturdy cushion going into the second leg slated for Thursday in St Thomas.
