Sewage solutions coming

THE PROBLEMS being experienced by residents on the South Coast, which many people have linked to the South Coast Sewerage Project, are getting urgent behind-the-scenes attention from Government.

This assurance was given to the House of Assembly yesterday by Minister of Health John Boyce, who said Government was “aware of the crisis” and was working to bring about a solution, while he expressed empathy with residents of Christ Church South and all Barbadians.

He said Prime Minister Freundel Stuart “is well on board” with the efforts to find a solution, as well as Minister of Water Resource Management Dr David Estwick and Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe.

Boyce, who represents the Christ Church South constituency, spoke to the issue during debate on a resolution to approve the guarantee by the Minister of Finance of the payment of the principal sum of $12 million to be borrowed by Needham’s Point Holdings Ltd from First Citizens Bank (Barbados) Ltd for the purpose of assisting with renovations to Hilton Barbados hotel.
