Prizes galore

CROP OVER 2017 will be recorded as one of the most lucrative for stakeholders.

Based on the purses of the various competitions, winning participants, as a collective, took home just under a million dollars.

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley, speaking at the Crop Over awards ceremony at Hilton Barbados Saturday night, however, lamented that while preliminary figures showed an increase of “in kind sponsorship, we saw a dip in the monetary contributions. But we thank the returning sponsors and new sponsors to the fold”.

There were four cars in the major competitions: Pic-O-De-Crop, Sweet Soca, Party Monarch and in the costume production of Junior Kadooment and Grand Kadooment. (NS)
