Over the next few weeks, Worthing Beach in Christ Church will be ground zero, as the fight to turn the tide on the South Coast sewage crisis takes on a new twist.

It is there Government has started construction, and soon to be, installation, of a long-awaited temporary marine outfall to ease the failing network and once and for all contain the area’s sewage woes.

Minister of Water Resource Management Wilfred Abrahams spoke to THE NATION at Worthing Beach after a first-hand look on the commencement of the project on Monday. He explained Government hoped to have the near-kilometre-long pipe completed in time for Christmas.

“We have started construction off the coast of Graeme Hall. This is pending the upgrade of the current plant or the construction of a new plant,” Abrahams said, as personnel attached to the project worked both on land and in the sea. (AD)
