THERE WERE NO TEARS shed in St Joseph yesterday over the news that Barbados Water Authority (BWA) workers had walked off the job.
After months of living with the reality that the water in their taps could go off at any moment without notice, and for extensive periods, many of the residents in the water-scarce region were indifferent to the news of the workers’ decision.
But like their equally affected northern counterparts in Boscobel and surrounding districts in St Peter, while not distraught over the news, some of them did express some concern over what would happen if their taps ran totally dry once again.
Several Airy Hill and Lammings residents said they had become efficient at storing water to compensate for the intermittent water service, and as a result the workers’ actions really had no impact on them. (CA/AD)
