After failing to qualify for the play-offs of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the last three seasons, Barbados Tridents have turned to highly-rated coach Phil Simmons in an effort to change their fortunes for the 2019 campaign.

Simmons, the former West Indies coach, who performed a similar role with Afghanistan up until the recent World Cup in England, has replaced Robin Singh.

Additionally, Roddy Estwick, who was part of Simmons’ support staff during his tenure as West Indies coach, has also joined the Tridents as an assistant coach.

The burly Simmons, a Trinidadian who supervised a five-day camp at Kensington Oval during the last week, said he is looking forward to the challenge with the Tridents. (EZS)
