TOP TIER FOOTBALL in Barbados now has a new title sponsor.

Giant beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola will partner with the Barbados Football Association (BFA) to stage the on-going 2020 Premier League season.

While the two entities have not yet signed on the dotted line, a three-year deal with an undisclosed fee has been agreed.

BFA president Randy Harris confirmed the news to NATIONSPORT yesterday via a telephone interview from Los Angeles, California.

“We have a number of people who have indicated that they are happy to become partners with the BFA. Coca-Cola is one of them; we have settled it. We are happy, it is a new beginning for sponsorship for the BFA,” Harris said.

The chief administrator for local football admitted that the association had its struggles with securing sponsorship deals in the past.

“We were finding it difficult when we first came to the organisation. I think there was question about the credibility of the football association but I think people are beginning to see what we are trying to do for football in this island and they have decided to give us a hand. I think it is a great fit. I think sponsors are now beginning to feel comfortable again and . . . the association has regained the trust,” he said.

The BFA has six other sponsors including the Nation Publishing Co. Limited but Harris is encouraging other organisations to collaborate in order to move football forward.
