“Utility work and roadworks ‘one time’”


WITHIN FOUR to five weeks, motorists can expect a major roadworks project on Highway 1.

The Ministry of Transport, Works and Maintenance will be undertaking the work in conjunction with the Barbados Water Authority, National Petroleum Corporation and Barbados Light & Power Company.

Minister Dr William Duguid made the announcement on June 29 as he updated the media on roadworks in the area of Forde’s Road, St Michael.

“We have to change out all the water mains on Highway 1. That will mean water mains on both sides of the road, so we will be digging a trench on Highway 1 from the bottom of University Hill to Holder’s Hill, which is one section. The second section will be Holder’s Hill to Holetown, and this work will be going on simultaneously,” he said. (RA
