Port of Spain – Minister of National Security Stuart Young says he is contemplating legal action against the Trinidad Express Newspaper, Anna Ramdass – a reporter at the Express and leader of the main opposition United National Congress (UNC), Kamla Persad-Bissessar, over a recent article.

The article, published by the newspaper alleged that  Young’s father – Richard Young, had brokered certain transactions that were before the Cabinet.

During a press briefing on Sunday, the National Security Minister said that the article in question has since disappeared from the online version of the Express newspaper, without an explanation or clarification.

While speakign with reporters, he questioned the timing of the article, published just over a week before the upcoming general election.

The Minister insisted that his father is retired and even stepped own from the Board of Directors for a local media company once he (Stuart Young) became a Minister.

Regarding the legal action being explored,  Young said it will focus on the Express and  Ramdass  – who wrote the article, and possibly the editor, since they would have approved the story.

He also included Persad-Bissessar, accusing her of sharing and building on the article.

The National Security Minister said that he has also advised his father to pursue legal action. (CMC)
