Super Cup bats beat ball

Three batsmen scored centuries in high-scoring matches as the Sagicor General Super Cup 50-over cricket competition bowled off.
At Queen’s Park: Captain Larry Babb smashed 10 sixes and nine fours in an unbeaten 117 off 79 balls as First Division side Police crushed new Twenty20 champions Super Centre Spartan by six wickets.
Babb’s knock allowed the cops to overhaul the home team’s 277 for seven in 50 overs, making 281 for four in 44.4 overs.
The foundation for Babb was laid by openers Roger Williams (67 – 7×4) and Jamar Yearwood (46). When both were dismissed, a quickfire 32 with five sixes in the batting powerplay by Stefan Gooding ensured that neighbours Police would not lose.
Earlier, Spartan opener Rashidi Boucher returned to form, scoring 109 from 104 balls with six fours and five sixes.
AT?WILDEY: The day’s other century was scored by Brathwaite Construction/Republic Bank St Catherine’s all-rounder Kenroy Williams, who made 105 off 120 balls in his team’s victory over defending champions, LIME at Wildey.

AT?BANK?HALL: ICBL Empire went under to CGI Maple by seven wickets in a low-scoring affair. Batting first, Empire struggled throughout to score an inadequate 165, their final total boosted by the top-score of 37 from leg-spinner Shadd Simmons.
The elegant Shane Parris stroked 51 to top score with seven threes and one four as Maple replied with 166 for three in 43.4 overs. (HE)        
AT PINE?BASIN: Thanks to a 137-run ninth-wicket partnership between Akeem Saunders and Preston McSween, visitors Premix & Precast Yorkshire recovered from a precarious 100 for eight to post 257 before going on to trounce Ince Transport MTW by 81 runs.
Saunders  thumped 84 while McSween complemented a robust 83 with three wickets for 43 runs as MTW stuttered to 176 off 44 overs. (WH)
At 3Ws OVAL: Sagicor UWI defeated Digicel Carlton by 85 runs.
After totalling 276 UWI dismissed their guests in 47.2 overs for 191.

AT BECKLES ROAD: Half-centuries by Dwayne Smith (75) and Kemal Smith (67) aided significantly in YMPC’s three-wicket win over Guardian General Barbados Youth.
Needing 249 for victory, YMPC got home at 251 for seven off 46.1 overs.
Opener Smith hit nine fours and eight threes from just 45 balls, while Kemal’s 97-ball knock included eight threes.
Nkosi Ross (26) and Fidel Edwards (19) added an unfinished invaluable eight-wicket stand of 43.
Earlier, Barbados Youth amassed 248 for nine from the allotted 50 overs. It was built around a second-wicket stand of 86 in 139 balls between debutant Dikembe Wilson (76) and Nicholas Kirton with 37. Wilson’s delightful maiden half-century contained ten threes off 121 deliveries. (EDH)
AT DAYRELLS ROAD: Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) easily defeated CounterPoint Wanderers by 74 runs. Sent in, BDFSP rattled up 280-9 from 50 overs. Wanderers were then dismissed for 206 in 35.4 overs.
Antonio Greenidge (80) and Renaldo Brathwaite 64 led the way for BDFSP. Greenidge’s run–a-ball knock was spiced with eight fours and three sixes, while Brathwaite hit ten fours and a six from 69 deliveries. (EDH)
AT FOURSQUARE OVAL: ESA Field Pickwick got the better of Wildey by 47 runs in a high-scoring encounter. Chasing the day’s highest target of 297, Wildey were limited to 249 for seven from the allotted 50 overs. There were half-centuries from Pedro Greaves (75), Jabari Yarde (60) and Mario Albert (51 not out). Greaves hit 12 fours and a six from 67 balls, Yarde had seven fours and a six while Albert stroked three fours and three sixes from 48 balls.
Earlier, Shai Hope lashed a superb unbeaten run-a-ball 82 decorated with five fours and a six in Pickwick’s 296 for four from 50 overs.
Rohan Ryan weighed in with 78 and Craig St. Hill made 52. Ryan struck ten fours and a six. (EDH).
