“‘Excited’ to be part of history”

SOME HANDS WERE LEFT without a touch of another in the 2016 Human Chain Link along Holetown, St James. But the memories, shared feelings of pride and excitement created an undeniable bond among those who participated yesterday.

It was around 10 a.m. when the streets of Holetown and Trents, St James, slowly revealed dotted colours of blue, gold and black, symbols of Barbados’ national colours that were worn by small groups of people who took up vantage points along the route.

Sandpiper Hotel guests Mark and Lisa Shepherd said they were in love with the island and hoped to hold the hands of fellow visitors or Barbadians.

Recently promoted 30-year-old Metropolitan Toronto police officer Amy Beckles said it was a blessing to be a part of yesterday’s event, which had become an addition to her list of activities since she arrived on November 18. (TKS)
