THREE YEARS after local business Beef Eater closed its doors, seven employees are in court seeking vacation pay.
The case, which is being heard in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, was brought by the Chief Labour Officer against the business which operated a restaurant at Land’s End, Spring Garden Highway, St Michael.
Director of the company Therold Fields (right) appeared in the dock defending the charges that on September 28, 2013 as being the employer of the former workers, it failed to pay them what was due under the Holidays With Pay Act.
On Monday three of those former employees, Ulrick Leacock, a cook; Marcia Williams, a kitchen assistant and Christine Alleyne, a secretary, gave evidence before Magistrate Douglas Frederick. Senior Crown Counsel Krystal Delaney represented the Chief Labour Officer. (TKS)
