AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS operating at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) are now happier after resolving a number of issues that created turbulence between them and management over the years.
President of the Barbados Air Traffic Control Association, Rico Simpson, told the DAILY NATION yesterday that most of the concerns had been ironed out.
They included poor working conditions and issues with the building that often led to them staging industrial action.
“We have gotten about 98 per cent of our issues dealt with through the ministry and our union representative [Barbados Workers’ Union]. We will continue to work with them to ensure it does not get to a point where we have to not work in order to be heard,” Simpson said in an interview yesterday, during their open day, which catered to secondary school students and employees at the airport.
