The pomp and pageantry of the Sandy Lane Gold Cup took to the City streets today.
It was a lead up to next week’s big sporting day on the race track.
The parade left Kensington Oval with the Royal Barbados Police Force mounted division, the police band, the dance troupe and 100-plus Sandy Lane staffers dressed in pink T-shirts along with the Trident Elite Cheer and Dance group whose gymnastic moves and dance routines entertained the scores of onlookers who lined the streets.
With flags waving and calypso music playing, the parade progressed along Princess Alice Highway, onto Broad Street and ended in Independence Square for a concert featuring resident performer at Sandy Lane, Keturah and local singer Toni Norville.
Robert Logan, General Manager of Sandy Lane Hotel said this year was significant for Sandy Lane as it will be the 15th year the hotel has been the title sponsor of the island’s 30 year old premier horse racing event.
