Soca at breakfast party

IT WAS a rain dance at the George Washington House yesterday when Island Mas held it’s breakfast party, Blue Print.
Not even the threat of a tropical system affecting Barbados could stop the jam which had party people jumping and waving in the mud and rain. For them it was the last lap before the big jump up today. Despite the dark clouds hovering, sometimes dumping a downpour of rain, the event was a “dry run” for Kadooment today for the large crowd that attended.
One woman said she didn’t care about the rain, adding that this was the end of the festival and she was determined to have a good time.
Many echoed that sentiment in action and literally kicked off their shoes and pranced around in the rain- soaked and mud-stained clothes, sometimes only stopping to refuel with food and drink.
When artistes like Party Monarch king Mikey and Pic-O-De-Crop finalist Khiomal hit the stage, patrons continued the fun frenzy.
Peter Clarke, one of the directors of Island Mas said this was their fifth year staging the event, which offers patrons a Trin-Bajan experience.
Clarke said this year instead of supporting the customary Leah Marville HIV Food Bank charity, they will also be supporting the Child Care Back to School  project. (CM)
