GOVERNMENT should take legal action to recover the millions of dollars owed to it, says Auditor General Leigh Trotman.
He told the DAILY NATION yesterday he was not satisfied that Government was doing enough to recover monies that were misappropriated or where people did not complete contracts but walked away with all the money.
And Trotman stated this inaction “sends a message to both the offending officers and the suppliers that there is not likely to be serious consequences for their actions or omissions”.
“I am not satisfied in terms of the actions taken,” said Trotman, adding that “some of the issues involve millions of dollars”.
