TO GIVE BARBADIANS a “brighter tomorrow”, outspoken religious leader Apostle Eliseus Joseph has called for changes, including greater emphasis on creating the right environment for people to take risks and to innovate, and a shift in how Government uses its main information agency.
Joseph, senior pastor at the Apostolic Teaching Centre, was speaking yesterday during the morning session of the two-day consultation under the theme The Changing Barbadian Society, Shaping A Brighter Tomorrow at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
In an address punctuated by applause, he said social empowerment was a key factor if change was to come to Caribbean societies.
He listed four major areas: making people aware; offering people access to opportunities; helping people acquire skills so they can access resources to make greater choices; and creating the appropriate environment for people to take risks and to innovate.
