Boxing Day’s?Diamonds?International/Mont Blanc and Victor Chandler Race Day signs off the Barbados Turf Club’s 2012 calendar and will also determine the year’s champion jockey, with Antonio Whitehall, Reshaun Latchman and Anderson Trotman all in the hunt.
Whitehall, who has 29 wins, and Latchman, with 28, are seeking their first championship while the holder Trotman, on 24, is after a record seventh title.
Also in Garrison action will be Northland Park 2012 champion jockey, Barbadian Rico Walcott.
Here is a look at the chances of Whitehall, Latchman and Trotman in each race in accordance with their bookings:
Race 1: The Boxing Day Juvenile Open Handicap over 1 100 metres.
Rahy Stormello: Latchman – the one to beat, back-to-back wins
Miss Fandando: Whitehall – outclassed.
North Western: Trotman – overmatched.
Race 2: DI/Safi Kalima Handicap (Div-A) for horses rated 32-55 over 1 100 metres.
Sixpenny Moon: Trotman – in poor form and hard to fancy.
Red October: Whitehall – steps up from her maiden win; place options at best.
Johnny Sad Boy: Latchman – could easily prove lethal again.
Race 3: DI/Safi Kalima Handicap (Div-B) for horses rated 32-55 over 1 100 metres.
Midnight Express: Whitehall – penny stamp makes her a threat.
Lord Blackadder: Trotman – it is surprising Trotman chose him over Reward Me
Race 4: DI/Sara G Condition Race for three and four-year-olds over 1 570 metres.
Island Memories: Latchman – the jockey is hot and even though the barn is not, the colt is due a win.
Chimichurri: Whitehall – over a year’s layoff; not a smart investment.
Slip Stream: Trotman – was away injured, trainer’s other options more acceptable.
Race 5: DI/Gift Condition Race for two-year-old maidens over 1 570 metres.
Foxy Browne: Trotman – very experienced, could welcome the extra distance.
Effectivo: Latchman – still not quite ready.
Iguazu: Whitehall – cannot be recommended.
Race 6: DI/Crown Of Light Stakes & Trophy for West Indian-bred two-year-olds (Gr.I) over 1 570 metres.
Nekitta: Whitehall – the one to beat.
Flying South: Trotman – can cause an upset
Devil’s Khandy: Trotman – useful at best.
Race 7: Victor Chandler Stakes & Trophy Grade I over 1 570 metres.
Shared Adventure: Latchman – very classy colt and the one to beat.
Apostle: Whitehall – the class horse here, worth his weight in gold.
Aristodemus: Trotman – too massive an assignment.
Race 8: DI/Day 2 Night Handicap for horses rated 57-80 over 1 100 metres.
Iamsogroovy: Latchman – chances look great.
Boo: Whitehall – in good form but up in class.
Golden Moment: Trotman – at this moment, draw unsuitable.
Race 9: DI/Wonder Stud Handicap for horses rated 45-65 over 1 800 metres.
Memory Lane: Whitehall – ridiculous form; better look elsewhere.
Fernandina: Trotman – great form; the one to beat.
Sweet Bottom Suzy: Latchman – could be live.
