Garcia at fault!

Convicted drug dealer Raul Garcia has been accused of deliberately frustrating the process which would have seen him being sent to live in another country.
This charge came yesterday from Principal Crown Counsel in the Solicitor-General’s Chambers, Donna Brathwaite, who told High Court judge Justice Margaret Reifer that many attempts by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to convene a meeting, via Skype, fell through because of Garcia’s actions.
Brathwaite was arguing about the impact of a letter from the UNHCR to the Chief Immigration Officer which she said would have seen Garcia being sent to live in a third country, if it had been accepted.
She said the UNHCR’s letter showed that the agency had already conducted an enquiry into Garcia’s situation, before the writ of habeas corpus had been filed on his behalf.
