College row

Trouble is brewing at Codrington College following students’ complaints which are being investigated by the Anglican Bishop of Barbados.
Local and foreign students based at the island’s main theological institute in St John have voiced complaints against principal Reverend Dr Ian Rock and these have reached the highest level of the diocese.
Complaints include: how they were being spoken to, foreign students no longer having access to the college’s bus to attend classes at the University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Cave Hill campus, being deprived of a dryer in the college’s laundry and being ordered to have their fingerprints taken by police.
A spokesperson for the students told the SUNDAY SUN that after an attempted break-in which left the remains of a beverage and foodstuff in front of the principal’s office two Thursdays ago, police were called in and it was sought to have students fingerprinted, but they protested.
“Four of us refused and one sought the advice of an attorney. Eventually we were not fingerprinted but the principal told us to pack our clothes and leave. One of us called Bishop Dr John Holder, who said the principal couldn’t do that,” the student related.
Students said since then they had been feeling even more uncomfortable.
